The venue for the The Human League’s Brisbane show has changed toThe Tivoli instead of the Eaton Hills Hotel.

This decision has been made on the back of many calls to the promoters for a more intimate venue closer to the CBD.

All tickets previously purchased for the Eaton Hills concert are valid for the new concert at The Tivoli on 17 December.

Pseudo Echo and Wa Wa Nee will stay as special guests for the show.

David Bowie famously said of The Human League ‘’I have seen the future of Pop Music” and he wasn’t wrong. Decades later, they are still in high demand and touring. For the first time in eight years, they’re on their way to Australia for a special run of theatre shows. The Human League have become pop icons in their own lifetime, with a career in which they have earned a reputation for fantastic live shows, sold millions of albums, and inspired two generations worth of recording artists. They have had No. 1 singles across Australia, Europe, the US, and undeniably given us some of the most memorable pop songs ever. Fans adored their unique mix of sound and image – from their beginnings as an artsy, avant-garde electronic band, to their chart-topping new wave hits of the 80s.

The Human League’s landmark album, Dare, which was released in 1981, saw them blowup worldwide. It spawned the smash single, Don’t You Want Me and followed on with favorites such as Love Action (I Believe In Love) and Open Your Heart. Dare was so successful that it went on to be included in Rolling Stone’s 100 Best Albums of the 80’s. In turn, the pop group constantly pushed forward, staying together and playing together. The story of The Human League encompasses three very distinct line-ups, all of which have their merits but one thing unites them; The Human League are not just a pop group – they are possibly the last great pop group. Believe.

Pseudo Echo will support The Human League on their East Coast tour of Australia. They formed in 1982, releasing their first album, Autumnal Park, in 1984 which skyrocketed the band to household name status across the country. Their second album, Love an Adventure, spawned another string of hits including its title track, Don’t Go, Try, Living in a Dream and their remake of the Lipps, Inc. song Funkytown. This particular song brought the group their biggest international success and spent seven weeks at No. 1 in Australia from December 1986. In 2012 Pseudo Echo celebrated their 30th anniversary and released their sixth studio album, Ultraviolet. Later this year, they will release their new single Nutbush City Limits.

WA WA NEE broke the Australian tradition of pub rock in the mid-’80s with a combination of expertly packaged funk-pop, designed for a mass audience. WA WA NEE’s ascent of the Australian charts began with the April 1986 release of the single Stimulation, which peaked nationally at No. 2 on the Singles Chart. Three further singles also made the Australian Top 20 and their self-titled debut album yielded platinum sales of over 70,000 and a Top 30 hit in the US with Sugar Free. Sadly the band called it quits in 1988 though founding member, Paul Gray, has continued working as an in-demand writer, producer and musician between reformation shows.

At a time when bands appear and disappear as quickly as twitter hashtags, it is a testament to Dream Theater to have created such a legacy which enables them to tour the world to sold out crowds for over two decades.

Being infrequent visitors to Australia, this is a rare chance for fans to experience a mouth watering and career defining set list that spans 25 years in well over 2.5 hours; with a production to match the grandeur of the songs and the splendour of the talent delivering them.

This particular songbrought the group their biggest international success and spent seven weeks at No. 1 in Australia from December 1986. In 2012 Pseudo Echo celebrated their 30th anniversary and released their sixth studio album, Ultraviolet. Later this year, they will release their new single Nutbush City Limits.

For nearly three decades of continually redefining the parameters of hard rock, progressive heavy metal and surpassing critical expectations, devoted fans will be in their element as Dream Theater announce their two only Australian shows.

Having last toured here in 2014, Dream Theater have arguably become the prototypical progressive metal band. And, not by coincidence, they are also probably the most successful purveyors of the form. Dream Theater have a legion of fiercely diehard fans around the world and expect nothing less than a smart, fully immersive, experiential journey through otherworldly soundscapes from each and every live performance.

They have been nominated for a Grammy Award, have sold more than 12 million albums worldwide, earned countless accolades and shared stages with iconic bands Deep Purple, Iron Maiden, Yes and Emerson, Lake & Palmer. Dream Theater have also just been nominated for this year’s Progressive Music Awards for International Band/Artist of the Year.

Dream Theater are John Petrucci (guitar), John Myung (bass), James LaBrie (vocals), Jordan Rudess (keyboard), and Mike Mangini (drums)

International superstars Culture Club have announced they will be touring Australia later this year. Culture Club are led by front man, Boy George, currently endearing himself to new Australian audiences as their favourite coach on TV’s top rated show The Voice. Thus, this tour is bound to take Culture Club to a large legion of new fans.

In 2016, their triumphant return sold out some of the world’s most iconic venues including the Hollywood Bowl in Los Angeles (two nights) and London’s famous Wembley Arena. Culture Club proceeded to sell out shows across the rest of the world including the UK, Europe and USA, making their resurgence one of the most noteworthy success stories of today. Musically, they are sounding better than ever as Boy George and the rest of the original line-up including Roy Hay, Jon Moss, and Mikey Craig are now joined by an incredible group of great musicians including extra percussionists, keyboard players, backing singers and a horn section. This bigger line up now stands as an incredible musical revue that adds a whole new element of warmth and sound to their live shows, all of which are consistently receiving glowing reviews.

Special guests will be Thompson Twins’ Tom Bailey, who will play hits live for the first time in 27 years. For nearly three decades, fans of the Thompson Twins have been waiting for more live performances from one of the biggest bands of the 80’s. Thompson Twins had huge hits – songs such as ‘Hold Me Now’, ‘Doctor Doctor’, ‘You Take Me Up’ and ‘Love On Your Side’ provided the soundtrack for so many people’s lives worldwide in the mid-eighties. It’s been 32 years since Thompson Twins have been to Australia and no doubt fans will welcome Tom Bailey back with open arms. Says Tom: “This will be the first time I’ve sung the Thompson Twin’s hits in decades. It’s taken a long time, but now I’m really looking forward to playing those songs to some of the fans that were there first time around.”

Featuring Grace Knight on vocals and Bernie Lynch on guitar and vocals, Eurogliders took the charts by storm in the 1980s. In 1984, Eurogliders released their album This Island, which spawned their No. 2 hit single, ‘Heaven (Must Be There).’ Another Australian top ten album, Absolutely, followed in 1985, which provided three further top ten singles, ‘We Will Together’, ‘The City of Soul’ and ‘Can’t Wait to See You.’ Grace and Bernie, along with their superb band, have reunited to once again captivate audiences with their sophisticated and high-energy brand of pop. Eurogliders will play all shows (except Perth).

The Human League will be special guests for Perth audiences only (as part of the Culture Club tour). The Human League have sold millions of records, inspired two generations of artists, written some of the all-time great classic pop songs, had No. 1’s across the world and yet still remain fiercely independent. Watch this space for more Human League headline shows to be announced in other cities in the coming weeks.

CULTURE CLUB NOTES:

• The group achieved stunning success in the 80’s, scoring three Top Ten US hits from their debut album, Kissing to Be Clever and becoming the first group to hit that milestone since The Beatles

• They are considered one of the most representative and influential groups of all time. In the 80’s they were the first multi-racial band with an openly gay front man, Boy George

• They are the first band since Beatles to have 3 songs from their debut album 1982′s Kissing to Be Clever reach the Top 10 of Billboard’s Hot 100 – including “Do You Really Want to Hurt Me,” “Time (Clock of the Heart)” and “I’ll Tumble 4 Ya”

• Their second album Colour By Numbers, sold over 10 Million albums and went Triple Platinum in the UK and Quadruple platinum in the US. It currently sits at number 96 on Rolling Stone’s “100 Best Albums of the 1980s”

Australia adores Culture Club – both the mayhem and success of their June tour has cemented our love affair with the iconic 80’s pop band. The tour will feature the original line-up: singer Boy George, guitarist/keyboardist Roy Hay, bassist Mikey Craig and drummer Jon Moss. Says the band “after the success of our June visit and the huge warm welcome we received from Australian fans, we have decided to come back and do it all again – you simply can’t get rid of us that easily!’’

Culture Club have been wowing audiences across the globe as part of their worldwide tour. Musically they are sounding better than ever before as they are joined by extra percussionists, keyboard players, backing singers and a horn section. This bigger line up has added a whole new element of warmth and sound to their live shows, of which, are consistently receiving glowing reviews. Culture Club have continued to stay relevant and are still as remarkable now as they were back then.

There is a stellar line of Australian 80’s support acts to turn this tour into a whole other level of fun – it’s going to be a seriously HUGE show and you can expect it to be chock-a-block full of the smash hits we all know and love! Tasmania & Barossa Valley will see support acts 1927, Pseudo Echo and Real Life. In the Hunter Valley, it will be 1927, Pseudo Echo, Kids in The Kitchen, Wa Wa Nee and Real Life. Melbourne will stage 1927, Pseudo Echo, Eurogliders, Wa Wa Nee and Real Life.

When you go to a Culture Club show, you can expect to have loads of fun and be fully immersed into a huge party atmosphere - then add to the mix this super 80’s line up, what more could you ask for? Grab your friends and be sure to get your tickets quickly so you don’t miss out!
